Ardouus Battles

Can you feel it? As you wait for him to come through the door. The grounds keep still. It is your own mass that starts to shiver. Not like in a gentle breeze, but a tremble of fear. You are left in a mind-numbed stare as if you lost all reason. Your eyes dilate in order to absorb more light. You can now challenge every shadow to see all imperfections, and justify your trophy as real. When your eyes are fixed ahead: the silhouette becomes clear, every line, curve, and color is committed to memory. Your trophy is now marked in your name. This trophy is yours and yours alone. It is yours to hold, yours to show, and yours to love. He knows this by the very first stare. But still, it’s not easy to obtain.

Dreams of Bunnies

I saw this image on the internet a few days ago. It reminded me of my dreaming, and putting things at rest.

It's beautiful isn't i? The landscape, Nature stripped from human ingenuity. It’s a perfect world, where every wild flower in a bunch or lonesome has its place. Together they light the ground as we conquer, provide a route when we wander, show us hope when we ponder, and display its beauty when we encounter, ourselves. I was free from blame here, and this is where I came as a child to put my fears at rest.

Unlike the times I have now, when I was a child, this dream had another element: The bunnies sprinting along the meadow: the green, the blues, and the purples. They would sprint so effortlessly. Now that I’m older all I see is the darkest black, and the lightest white. Their coats have lost all color, and they won’t sprint and hop, they don’t skip and smile, they don’t prance along mindlessly: they just trudge along frighteningly. My imagination is shot; it now takes an effort to see the colors. It takes an effort to imagine nothing. That’s all this is, it’s nothing. I miss when it was simple to just imagine, nothing: the meadow, the bunnies. But I have been tainted, and corrupted, and I lost my ingenuousness long ago.

Music.

There are many types of music in the world such as rock, hip-hop, rap, techno, reggae, country, etc. Usually people listen to music as a form of emotion. Music might be used to hype people up or to just sooth people. I love to listen to music either when I am mad or sad or even happy it just helps bring me into a better emotion zone. I like to listen to music because artist usually sing/rap about how they feel in situations, so i relate to many or the artist. When I relate to the singers I realize that it isn't just me in the world that might feel the way I do about something. Also, music is helping to sooth me when you are tired and want to just relax you listen to soothing music to calm you down.

Poetry and Art

I have discovered that many use the forms of poetry or art to express feelings and emotions. I read the Def Poetry Jam book which is based on the poets expressing their feelings in a play just in a poetic way. I like to use art to express my feelings because the shades of colors and shapes help emphasize more on your feelings. For example there was Frida who painted when she had to sit in bed all day because of her accident, or Van Gogh painted mostly realistic paintings with abstract techniques. Many artist paint using either realism or abstract techniques to show people how they see the world or to show emotions. Poetry is very similar except that there is no pictures just words. People express their emotions and feelings through words in a song technique usually rhyming.

B-R-O-O-K-L-Y-N

Brooklyn is the place where not only have I but many of my friends been born and raised in. Brooklyn is the place where many of us have learned so much about life. Many people love and take their hometowns to heart because they have been effects in many peoples lives. Your hometown is very important to a person because they have were born there and should feel like a part of something big. I think brooklyn is a part of me because I grew up here, so I feel safe, and more aware of my surroundings. Unlike other people that come here feel unsafe because they were never raised to be in the same environment as this one. Whenever I go out of state or country I feel weird walking down streets or seeing how other people live because I am so use to living the way I do in the city. Your hometown is also a big part of you life because you pick up accents and your ways of living. I feel safe and right at home no matter what part of brooklyn I am in because its my hometown and I was born and raised here.

Stereotypes

There are many stereotypes that are well know around the world. Many stereotypes are not true and also may hurt people due to the false information. Stereotypes often fall into the categories of discrimination, racism, sexism, ethnocentrism, minorities, etc. I don't think stereotypes are right to people because stereotypes often begin based on another persons mistake. I don't think anyone should be judged on their religion, nationality, color of skin, or sex. An example of a stereotype I have heard that I highly disagree with is that men are stronger or smarter than women. Statics have shown that women are mentally more mature then men, however the conflict with who is stronger I think that all is based on the type of man or woman you chose to compete because I am sure that there are women out in the world that can lift up anything a guy can. Another stereotype I found was untrue was that all blacks are thieves. I think that if any man or women in the world has bad intentions in life will do whatever they need to succeed in what they want to do. Color does not make you want to kill more or steal.

FRIDA

Frida was a very independent women. She grew up to be a painter because she was inspired. After the accident she was in she still stayed strong. Most of her artwork was a reflection of her life. Even though she was in bed for a while that definitely didn't stop her from doing what she loved. Frida was heartbroken but continued to paint and find her love. No matter what Frida went through with either the accident or her divorce with her husband she still continued to paint. Her art work wasn't only a way she could pay bills but it helped her express her feelings rather than telling everyone. I think Frida was a strong women and helps prove the stereotypical view on women that they need a man to be depend on.

Facebook? Myspace?

Kids these days have newer and newer web pages to meet more and more people. This is a question I ask myself, is the Internet making the world a smaller place? Well many think it does because you can connect with someone in China or Italy all the way from America. I also think it makes it easier to meet people, however it is not all that safe to just talk to strangers because it is the Internet you never really know if their real name is Kristina or Christopher. Without Internet the world would be a bigger place because not everyone would be stuck at home just chatting. Everyone now a days are worried about what is the new meet spot, such as Myspace or Facebook. People need to expand their horizons and should go out to meet and see new people or even just to see and explore what is out there in the world.

College or Full-time job?

Teens and kids my age, are mostly concerned with their future. Some kids would rather just skip college and start working at a young age. Others want to go to well known colleges and pursue their dreams. I feel this is the toughest time of our lives because it will most likely effect our future with whatever decision we make. I am having such a hard time picking what career I would like to pursue & actually seeing myself working as for the rest of my life. At times I get a feeling that if i can get a job in whatever fields I would like to be when I grow up, then why go to college. However that would not be the correct way to start my life, if I attend college I will learn more than someone who just starts working right after high school, I would have more experience and knowledge. The only advice I can give anyone is to attend college just so they can learn more & be more prepared for the career of their choice.

"When it comes to life and love, why do we believe our worst reviews?"
_I highly agree with this quote. I know most people are scared to just try new things, which is why we always ask friends or family. Once they say its bad or they tell you about there bad experience, we panic and don't try things out because we don't like to see ourselves fall. I know i don't, which is why i always ask my friends for advice and if i hear it "bad reviews" i stop and say oh well I wouldn't want to see myself in that position. However your rights&wrongs wont be the same as others, everyone is like a snowflake were all very different in our own ways. Love may be important to some but I know I like to hear about other peoples experience so i can try to prevent the worst for myself, this is not such a good idea sometimes because I may do things differently then others. So I say if your going to life YOUR life& love who YOU want, then you should just go with the flow and believe your feelings not what you hear, because it wont always be the same for you.

Do's & Dont's

All my life I have seen how people act over such "trends". Many spend over hundreds of dollars on one pair of useless clothes or accessories. I have seen friends and family members get all excited and spend large amounts of money to have the latest phones such as blackberry's or sidekicks. who really cares what phone you have or what kind of shoes you have. I know Jordan's may SEEM to be better than Champ sneakers, i swear people are just paying for the name because there being materialistic.
Everyday I hear this phones coming out next week & its touchscreen or this phone has a mp3 player. Everyday more and more stuff come out but they all just do the same thing. Aren't phones to contact people in case of emergencies? Who cares if its touchscreen or has the latest things on it. Many people think there not "cool" enough if they don't wear juicy couture, true religion, seven jeans, Dunks, Jordan's, or any other name brand that might cost them there weekly meals.
During this economic recession i feel that people should shop less & instead of watching MTV to stay updated with the latest trends that famous people who can actually afford all the expensive stuff start, we should all just turn on the news and see what is actually going on in the REAL world.
